Services_Sure Stone

Sure Stone is a segmental retaining wall system with a difference. Made from solid 4000 psi concrete and weighing in at over 500 pounds each strong walls are built fast! In fact, these are so different, each unit is called ”stone” to help distinguish between their lightweight ” block” cousins. Custom steel forms and imprinted urethane liners are used to create each unit with the look of one large, deep relief stone. Concrete gray is the standard color but numerous other color options are available. Sure Stone is manufactured at the Harrisonburg facility and ready for pick-up or delivery to the job site. Cornerstone crews install the walls or coach customers for a "do-it-yourself" project. The office has engineering to prove the walls are built to last.

Excavation of the site is first step. It involves cutting in a 3'0' wide and 6"-12" deep trench with solid bearing reached. A 3" thick unreinforced concrete pad is poured. The next day lines are struck and the first course is placed. The crane can set 3 stones at a time, so it is a fast process. Due to the larger size and mass, taller wall heights can be set before needing to use soil reinforcement techniques. After the stones are stacked to a finished height, a perforated draintile, fabric and crushed stone are placed behind the wall and graded out with topsoil or mulch.

Stones set Back-to-back

Pictured above, this customer wanted the stone pattern on both sides of the top row. Our shop manager customized the pours to enable setting the units back-to-back with the stone face on each side. The project will be backfilled up to the top row of Sure Stone.
